Friday is the last day to nominate a business for the 2012 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence competition.
The program, sponsored by FairPoint Communications, will recognize Maine’s strongest businesses, large or small, for their contribution to the local economy, according to a Monday release from Gov. Paul LePage’s office.
“This award represents the innovative spirit that has earned Maine a reputation for top-quality workmanship, service and a commitment to excellence,” said Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner George Gervais. “We encourage all Maine businesses to get involved.”
Businesses may be nominated by a third party or they may nominate themselves. A panel comprised of previous award winners and business professionals will review the nominations and select the winners. LePage will announce the winners during a formal ceremony at the Statehouse on May 14.
Recipients of the 2011 Governor’s Award for Business Excellence included: Snowman Printing in Hermon, Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Duratherm Window Corporation in Vassalboro, JSI Store Fixtures in Milo, Mid State Machine Products in Winslow and Hardwood Products Company in Guilford.
