GD Saco gets $7M order for machine guns

General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $7.3 million contract for more than two dozen Gatling gun systems for U.S. Army helicopters.

The work will be done at General Dynamics’ facility in Saco, which employs more than 400 people,according to a Thursday release.

According to the GD release, the GAU-19/B Gatling gun is a lighter version of General Dynamics’ GAU-19/A, a .50 caliber, three-barrel gun which is currently fielded on aircraft, ground vehicles and ships. All of the GAU-19/B gun systems will be delivered in February.
